Examinations

Acen offers assessments all the year round.  Click here to go to the Assessment Centre for resources sold on this site. Assessments for these are free or charge. For more detailed assessments and a wide range of on-line courses, you can join the Acen On-line language centre at www.dysgwr.com.

The Welsh Joint Education Committee offers formal examinations at four levels at the moment - Entry, Foundation, Intermediate and Higher (See Language Levels).

They are held once a year and there is a prior registration requirement. Examinations are held at centres in Wales and students may be required to travel.   The emphasis is firmly on oral skills  (Entry 50%, Foundation 50%, Intermediate 50% and Higher 45%).

The 2008 timetable is as follows:

Date of examination	25 April 2008 (but students make take the examination on the evening of 24 April in some centres)

Foundation

Last date for registration	1 February 2008
Date of examination	11 May 2008
Fee	£20.00

Intermediate

Last date for registration	20 February 2008
Date of examination	6 June 2008 but a Special Task has to be submitted by 4 May
Fee	£22.00

Higher

Last date for registration	20 February 2008
Date of examination	12/13 June 2008 but a Folio must be submitted by 2 May
Fee	£37.00
